Carey was 5'10 in height before she stepped up to the leading model. The popularity of her among American designers Calvin Klein or Ralph Lauren was very high. Her father was a renowned scientist and was awarded the title of Scientist in 1979 by the Rocky Mountain Association of Geologists. Carey has traveled across the globe due to his profession. While in college, she began to model in a part-time capacity and caught the eye of Ford model Agency representatives in New York. The model lived in France briefly, in Paris and Bordeaux. Then she returned in New York for her college studies as well as to develop her career as a model. She was a full-time student in New York University, obtaining the degree in Literature, which she earned while working on modeling assignments. As time passed, she was drawn to acting and attended the Neighborhood Playhouse in New York. She made her acting debut through a tiny role in 'Club Paradise' in 1986 with Robin Williams. She spends her free time skiing, white-water rafting, wind-surfing and climbing rocks.
